READY, SET, GO -- Pediatric Powered Mobility presents two programs:
  • Pediatric Powered Wheelchair Screening Test (PPWST) -- a cognitive screening tool
  • Powered Mobility Program (PMP) -- an approach to evaluating and training youngsters for powered mobility.
The PPWST and the PMP were developed to aid clinicians in the decision making process when considering a powered wheelchair for a very young child developmentally 2-3 years of age). These programs were the result of a five year research grant investigating the cognitive readiness for powered mobility in young children with only orthopedic disabilities. Although the PPWST is validated for children with only orthopedic disabilities, the PMP approach can be used as a clinical guideline for all populations and age groups.
